This. I had nothing but trouble trying to get the wi-fi stable on a Pi 3.
Ethernet is perfect.

I have to say that in the few hours I've used OctoPrint to actually transfer files and print the wireless has been awesome! I'm not sure why but since I've hooked it up on my home network with both octopi-wpa-supplicant.txt and raspi-config configured to my WiFi settings I've had no issues...
Obviously, LAN will always be faster and a more stable; yet, so far I'm happy
