What to do about the fire risk? (Duplicator i3 V2.1)

After being away from home for three months, I return to find the notice that my Wanhao Duplicator i3 v2.1 poses a fire risk. I am very thankful for this message, however I have no clue how to solve this issue. As mentioned in the post in the notification, the issue lies within the firmware. When googling, I sadly see no way to upgrade the firmware easily. I am not a programmer and have no experience in the firmware etc. behind printers (my level is more like an Arduino beginner).

Is there a way to solve this fire risk for me other than using smoke detectors and having a fire extinguisher nearby?

Thanks in advance!

Following this thread as I have a CR-10S and the exact same question.

I did read there is a custom firmware that can go on some printers and has pre-done profiles for specific printers, though not had time to look in to this. Not yet sure if this would work with your printer or if it will even address the thermal runaway issue.

From memory it is called something like F3d, though I have been reading a LOT of things lately and that may be a stray memory.

Yeah, I read that it is available, but very hard to flash on Wanhao i3 v2.1.
