Just a small suggestion. I think that this should say Layer height or Current Layer Height. The one above it is the current Z height which is different during retractions and moves.
Are you running any plugins like: DisplayLayerProgress, DetailedProgress, DisplayProgress, DisplayZ...?
Yes, is that what's causing that?
Think this is a bug (or feature?) in the DisplayLayerProgress plugin when you have the option "Show current height in Statusbar" enabled.
